Symphony of the Leaves (Coming Soon)

Image
On May 16, I step aboard the world’s largest cruise ship for a whirlwind tour. Will I blend in with the décor? Will I get mistaken for a centerpiece? Only time will tell. Dearest deck-dreamers, The countdown is on. On May 16 , I’ll be touring the magnificent Symphony of the Seas , one of the largest cruise ships in the world—and I’m bringing my best fronds-energy with me. Word on the wind is this ship has: Multiple neighborhoods (do plants get assigned a zip code?), A ten-story slide (no thank you), A park with over 20,000 real plants (finally, some distant cousins!), And more restaurants than I have leaves. I won’t be setting sail—just taking a peek—but this tour is a sneak preview of a life I could definitely get used to. I plan to inspect every nook of the Central Park neighborhood, judge the solarium lighting, and maybe pose dramatically by a railing or two. If they don’t name a cocktail after me by the end of the day, I’ll consider it a missed opportunity. ...

A Night of Giving: My First Charity Auction

Image
I didn’t leave with a vintage lamp or a basket of jams, but I did leave with hope in humanity—and a front-row seat to a surprisingly intense dessert duel. Hello again, sproutlings, Last night, I attended the 35th Annual Friend, Inc. Benefit Auction —a beautiful evening of giving, laughter, and heated bidding over baked goods. As always, I observed from my perch, somewhere between a silent auction table and someone’s carefully guarded charcuterie plate. One of the evening’s brightest moments came courtesy of Ellen Overcast of Dream Vacations , who generously donated to the event. I hear she helps humans take their own dreamy adventures—not unlike the one I’m about to embark on (more on that soon 🌊). But the real show? Watching Ellen’s husband dive headfirst into a spirited bidding war for a carrot cake baked by none other than executive baker and auction legend Sue Mangold . Let me tell you, there was passion, drama, and frosting-fueled determination in the air. It was less of a de...

Pastas & Photosynthesis: My Night at Camillo’s

Image
First stop on my grand tour.  A cozy Italian spot in Kutztown with warm lighting, excellent bread, and zero judgment for plants with big dreams. Dear Leaf Lovers, Last night, I dined out for the first time. Yes, me. A humble Hedgehog snake plant, usually confined to windowsills and dusty corners, was treated to a proper night out at Camillo’s Italian Restaurant in the heart of Kutztown. The lighting? Ambiance perfection. The bread? Fluffy enough to make me wish I had a mouth. The staff? Didn’t even flinch when a spiky green dinner guest rolled in. I took my place on the table like the centerpiece I was born to be. My human ordered something with garlic and pasta (classic), and I basked in the warm, golden glow of hanging bulbs while eavesdropping on nearby conversations about college exams, weekend plans, and someone’s very dramatic breakup. Highlights of the night included: Making eye contact with a suspicious toddler. Nearly getting sprinkled with parmesan. Po...

Rooted in Adventure: My Name is Wanderlust

Image
Hello, humans. I’m Wanderlust. A Hedgehog snake plant with a passion for window seats, filtered light, and questionable motel decor. While most plants are content soaking up sun in a single corner, I’ve always had… shall we say… deeper roots —roots that long to roam. I travel the world one ceramic pot at a time, accompanied by my human (a fine assistant, excellent at carrying things, mediocre at remembering to water me). Together, we explore forests, cities, deserts, and cafés. I take in the sights, breathe in the air, and occasionally strike a pose for the 'Gram. You might think it’s odd—a plant on the go—but let me assure you: staying still is vastly overrated. Here on this blog, you’ll get a glimpse into my leafy life on the road. Expect travel tales, exotic sunbeams, awkward TSA moments, and the occasional rant about bumpy car rides. Also, shoutout to the succulents who said I’d never make it. Look at me now. 🌵 Yours chlorophyll-y, Wanderlust (Hedgehog snake plant, wo...
